"This commissioned piece was done for a woman who, as she explained to me, was preparing herself for some major life changes, and wanted a kapa that expressed the feminine divine. As I pondered how to create a visual of this, I thought of our mau'oli feminine divines, namely Hine, Pele and Kihawahine, expressed as feminine curves with designs that hearken to their kinolau or attributes."
