The name Koai'a comes from
combining koa and i'a(fish). This wood
was used to make shark hooks because
of its strength.
It grows in dry forest
Also called Koai'e because it was used
for i'e kuku( Kapa beaters).
In old Hawaii used for

-'ukeke(musical bow)
-used for fishing lures
-fancy canoe paddles
