LAULIMA - ʻAmakihi Pin
Description
"The ʻamakihi pin celebrates Hawaiʻiʻs most resilient honeycreeper. ʻAmakihi help native forests persist by serving as pollinators and seed dispersers.
There are three species of found throughout the Hawaiian Islands: Kauaʻi ʻamakihi, Oʻahu ʻamakihi, and Hawaiʻi ʻamakihi. All three are susceptible to avian malaria and avian pox, two diseases spread by invasive mosquitoes. Luckily, however, some ʻamakihi have developed resistance to these diseases, making these birds a symbol of resilience against extinction.
A portion of proceeds supports the protection of Hawaiian flora and fauna.
